Marjorie Grace passed away April 1, 2019 at UT Health Center in Henderson, Texas. Marjorie was born in Salt Lake City, Utah June 13, 1924 to Joseph William and Grace Best Gibson. She was a twin and the oldest of 4 sisters. She met the love of her life during the war while visiting her sister in San Diego, CA. she met Seaman 1st class, Frank Augustus Thompson, Sr. from Atlanta, TX. They were married in San Diego and after the war they came home to East Texas to start a family.
Marjorie loved the Thompson Clan. She had told many stories about coming to Texas. Moving from a big city in Utah to a small East Texas town was quite a change, but a good change to her. She told her son several wonderful stories about living a Thompson/Southern life style. She had a lot of respect for her husband's parents; they had a lot of influence on her life and all the other family's lives too. Marjorie told her son, Frank that one Sunday she was going to wash clothes at Papa John's house (her father in-law) and Papa told her in a very gentle way, "Marj, we don't wash on Sunday." She came to understand that on the Lord's Day you rest.
Marjorie was a wonderful cook and gave the credit to her mother in-law, Mama Emm. She taught her along with the other sister in-laws as well. They were fine, Christian people. Marjorie respected that they were people of faith and loved the Lord. They set an example for all.
Marjorie worked hard all her life and never complained. She always had a smile and a kind word for all she knew and met. She was a modest, meek, gentle, patient and the complete definition of a lady. Marjorie's faith was in Christ. Her church was Presbyterian. She set a wonderful example for her son and grandchildren to live by. All her family knew her as 'Mama Marj' We have been very blessed. After Marj retired, she enjoyed her flowers, pets, oil painting, friends and family. She was always doing for others, that was just her beautiful nature. She was a great picture of the love of Christ.
Marjorie Grace is survived by her son, Frank A. Thompson, Jr. and wife, Jeanie W. and grandchildren: Joe Bob Rivers Thompson and wife, Kelly; Jennifer Christen Ross and husband, Mike and Trev Franklin Thompson; 5 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
