

Mary Lynn Brown Lain, 86, of White Oak passed away on March 14, 2014 at a nursing home in Longview. She was born on March 20, 1927 in Mt. Vernon, Texas to Floyd C. and Ethelyn Duncan Brown. She graduated from Mt. Vernon High School and went on to East Texas State University, now Texas A&M Commerce, where she received her Bachelors and Masters of Education. After receiving her education, she married James W. Lain May 30, 1953 in Mt. Pleasant, Texas. She served as a teacher in the Perryton, Rankin and White Oak School systems before retiring. She was a member of the Pine Tree Church of Christ.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, James W. Lain of White Oak; son: Mark Lain and his wife Dana of Austin; daughter: Melinda Hargis and her husband Brent of Longview; grandchildren: Samuel Lain of Austin, Allison Sandlin and her husband Adam of Lewisville, Caroline Hargis of Waco, Zach Hargis of Longview; great granddaughter: Ayla Lain; brother-in-law: Robert Lain of Ft. Worth; sister-in-law: Elizabeth Guthrie and her husband James of Winnsboro; as well as a number of nieces, nephews and extended family members. She was preceded in death by her parents and one grandson- Clayton Hargis.
Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, March 17, 2014 at the Lakeview Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel with Dale Thomas officiating under the direction of the Lakeview Funeral Home.
