

Mava graduated from Spring Hill High School in Longview, Texas in 1955 and BMI Business College shortly after, Mava married James, the love of her life, September 1, 1956. Mava’s career included McCarley’s Jewelry, Beall’s Department Store, Crook Electric and operating her own Tax Preparation Business for over 30 years. Mava was an active member her church, Spring Hill Assembly of God, for 37 years, serving for a number of years as an Adult Sunday School teacher and Senior Ministries Coordinator.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 67 years, James Husband, daughter and Son-in-Law Theresa and Jim Reynolds, granddaughter Erin Lee Reynolds, sister Marcie Corbell, brother Delwin Redding, sister in-laws Sue Husband, Lil Husband, and Polly Woods, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Wanda and Wally Bloom, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Matilda and Danny Brown, and brother-in-law Richard Monse, and many nephews and nieces.
Mava enjoyed travel, adventuring to Ireland, Mexico, Canada, Switzerland, Puerto Rico, Amsterdam, England, Panama, Alaska, and U.S.V.I. She held most dearly her time spent traveling with her family to weekend soccer tournaments, the Appalachian Mountains, Baylor football games, and gulf coast beaches.
At home, Mava loved gardening, planning landscaping projects and plantings with her daughter, and relaxing in nature at her lake home. She spent her free afternoons on sewing and crafting and could often be found working a crossword or jigsaw puzzle.
Mava was passionate about learning and teaching– studying and engaging with current events, thoughts, ideas, and stories. She was an especially avid student of the scriptures. Mava spent her most precious hours with the Lord in study and prayer and found deep fulfillment in discussing and teaching others about Him.
A home going service to celebrate Mava’s life, will be held March 9, 2024 10:00am at Spring Hill Assembly of God Church. Following the service, she will be laid to rest at Lakeview Memorial Gardens. A visitation will be held March 8th 5:00 -7:00pm at Lakeview Funeral Home on 5000 W. Harrison Road in Longview, Texas.
Mava’s life was rooted in faith and overflowing with love for her Heavenly Father - a love that spilled over, covered, and gathered her family and friends. She entrusted each step of her earthly journey to Him and now walks sweetly with her Jesus, hand in hand.
