OBITUARY
Mia Burkett
July 3, 1974 – February 8, 2021
On Monday, February 8, 2021, Mia Laura Burkett passed away at the age of 46. Mia was born to Cheyenne Smith and Harold Burkett in Beebe, Arkansas on July 3, 1974. Mia attended Pine Tree High School and studied Liberal Arts and Science at Kilgore College where she enjoyed traveling and singing in the choir.
Mia had a passion and a gift of being a floral designer. Her immense talent and flair in flower arrangements led her to open her own business, Mi Amore. Mia also loved music, singing and attending concerts. Her most outstanding quality was her vivacious personality. She was brilliant and full of light and love. She touched the lives of many people with her loving spirit and is truly unforgettable. She has moved on, but she remains alive in the hearts she touched and especially in the lives of at least three total strangers who will receive lungs, kidneys and a liver to prolong their life. Mia is and will always be a HERO.
Mia was preceded in death by her brother, Aaron Garner and grandparents, G.P. (Buck) Smith Jr., Mary Dennis Smith, Lloyd and Daphne Burkett and stepmother, Chris Burkett. She is survived by her mother, Cheyenne Smith, and father, Harold Burkett, her person Eddy McCartney, her niece, Rachel Smith and her husband Swade Smith and their two children, Aaron and Sunni, her nephew, Isaac Garner, and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

My condolences to all those mourning today.
I have a plethora of Mia stories, as we all do, but I'll share the first time we met. Picture it...Ocean Club, 1993, Mia and I were always the only girls in the pit at pretty much every show we went to. This show was probably Myra Mains....all I know is we were breaking it down. We were jamming so hard we literally banged our heads together and both came up seeing stars. We looked at eachother skeptically for a second and I thought oh man....are we gonna have a fight? Instead she said "are you ok?" I said" Yeah man. I've been hit harder in a Sepultura pit" We both started laughing hysterically and bellied up to the bar. The beginning of a beautiful friendship. We laughed about this all the time through the years. Oh and the time I took her to meet Chino. So many good memories.
RIP MIA BIA and love to all.

The Eulogy was perfectly, beautifully written. Mia & I have known each other since grade school. I instantly gravitated towards her fearlessness & LOUD personality. Best memories as kids is the absolute craziness us girls had in 6th grade PE (laughing tears) ... to the Jr High lunch table conversations ... the rebellious weekends in High school. Your infatuation with Bret Michaels!!! There was NEVER a dull moment within your presence!! We took on any consequence, as long as, we could live life "in the moment" ! Through the years we all go through distance gaps - on our own journeys. Anytime we reconnect... it's like we never skipped a beat and all the adult problems we face didn't matter. We always lived "in the moment". You are one rare & obnoxious being that I am truly blessed to have known. I love you immensely & your physical body will be missed, but your spirit will always be alive in the hearts of soooo many!
xoxo,
Brandee

Dear Cheyenne and family,
I met Mia through my daughter, Heather Douglass, and their very close friendship for many years. She was truly a Best Friend to Heather sharing stories, concerts, and special times together. I also received many floral arrangements designed by her over the years. I remember my last arrangement and her driving from the lake and visiting with me. Although we miss her earthly body, three others will live on because of her generosity. All of you are in my thoughts and prayers now and in the days to come๐๐

Always my Turkey. Forever front row. Thanks for every smile and gut laugh. You are missed more than words can say. Send me some signs...
Cheyenne: All my love to you. I sent her this poem for Aaron long ago and now to you...
โDo not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry;
I am not there. I did not die.โ

I love this pic of Mia shared by her family! Mia was one of a kind-no one like her. She made any scenario more fun with her sassy sarcasm; but she also had a sensitive and loving side. I will miss her wit and pictures of her beautiful floral creations.

I will forever miss you chicka!! I only wish I would of come to more of the events and got to hang with you more you were so full of life that laugh, smile, charisma MAN!! Something to behold and those you loved you loved fiercely and they were so lucky to have you in their corner because that was a one of a kind love/friendship. My heart hurts for those that knew and loved you well but I know you are smiling down on us your rocking out with the legends and with Aaron. I love you I know we were not close but sister souls you can see/feel/tell just know and I am kicking myself in the ass for not letting that grow more. Miss you, love you and send extra soothing and ease to those that need it like a hug from you could

Iโve known Mia every since high school. My views on her changed so much from opinions to facts with just spending a day with her. She was a rare Gem!! That smile that could make you smile, the laugh the amount of love she had for her people was beyond measure!!! I can honestly say that I have never met anyone that could love as big as she did and not expect anything back. I was not nearly as close to her as I wish I had been ( looking back I sure wish I had attended more invitations) but the memories I do have are great and the memories that are shared by ALL who loved her reminds me of what an amazing person she was, creative, kind, politely honest(ha), eclectic, passionate, fierce, loyal, strong, adventurous and always and forever FRIEND!! I will miss you very much and I know those who were so much closer to you are hurting something fierce and I hope you can ease there hearts/souls and minds knowing you are soaring free and high and with your Aaron. Those here miss you but you have left so much, so much to live for and an example to live up to. Love lil mama Mia

Dear Smith and Burkett families,
My heart is with you in thought and prayer. I am so grateful for Miaโs friendship and all the memories made, memories that include you and your RaRa. I always knew Mia to be honest, caring, and quick to come to aide. She shared in my biggest joys and accomplishments as well as my deepest disappointments and sorrows. A true friend. Creative, model beautiful, the center of all fun. Love to each of you. A heavy loss and time for sure.
