Mike Hart

Mike was born on November 25, 1951 in Center, Texas to Clifford Oldham and Barbara Hathorne Hart. He graduated from Longview High School in 1970. Mike started his career at the Brookshire Grocery Company in the mid 1970’s and retired from this industry as a Category Analyst in 2017. He loved living at Lake Cherokee and was an avid fisherman. He spent most of his time outdoors, wood carving, and feeding and watching the wildlife. He enjoyed walking the lake roads, riding his side by side, and telling corny jokes. He also loved to pick and tease his loved ones, this was often his love language. He was a Christian man and a member of The Church at Lake Cherokee. He enjoyed playing in his shuffleboard group and visiting his friends around town and the lake. In addition to his personal hobbies, Mike was a proud, supportive father passing down many life lessons, wisdom and love to his two sons. He was a loving and playful “Pappy,” spending time with his grandchildren and attending sporting events and activities in which they were involved.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Carol “Nan” Hart Sheedy. He leaves behind his son Branden and wife Breann, son Blaine and wife Lacey, grandchildren Brody, Brysen, Grayton, and Lainey, and his brother Eddie and wife Janice Hart. He also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends.

The Hart family would like to give special thanks to the staff at both Christus Good Shepherd Medical Center Longview and Longview Continued Care for caring for him so well in the last days of his life. Your kindness and compassion made this process much easier.

A visitation will be held at 5:00 PM on Wednesday, July 9th in the chapel of Lakeview Funeral Home & Cemeteries at 5000 W Harrison Rd, Longview, TX 75604.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, July 10th at The Church at Lake Cherokee at 11968 FM 2011 E, Henderson, TX 75652.

A graveside service will follow at Lakeview Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, please direct all donations to the Church at Lake Cherokee. All donations made in Mike Hart’s name will be used for various outreach programs.
