Miriam Clydelle Madison

Miriam Clydelle Madison, 94, passed away June 7, 2019 in San Antonio, Texas surrounded by her family. A celebration of her life will be 10 am Saturday, June 15 , 2019 at The Chapel of Lakeview Funeral Home, 5000 West Harrison Road, Longview, TX with Bro. Tony Harp officiating. Visitation will be immediately following the service in the Gathering Room of Lakeview Funeral Home. Interment will be in Lakeview Memorial Gardens. Miriam Clydelle Henderson was born February 11, 1925 in Longview, Texas to Clyde Talmage Henderson and Mabel Pryor Henderson. She graduated from Longview High School in 1942 and then attended Bish Mathis Institute (BMI) in Longview and studied typing, bookkeeping and shorthand. She was employed as a bookkeeper/accountant by LeBus Manufacturing Company in Greggton. It was there she met the love of her life, T.F. Madison, Jr. Clydelle and T.F. were married at First Methodist Church in Longview on September 25, 1948. Clydelle became a full-time homemaker and was dedicated to the rearing of the couple’s three children. In 1963, she started college and earned a bachelor’s degree in education from East Texas Baptist University and master’s in education from Stephen F. Austin State University. She was employed by the Longview Independent School System as a special education teacher specializing in remedial reading from 1968 until her retirement in 1988. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma and the Daughters of the American Revolution. However, she was known by many for her involvement in church activities as a Sunday school teacher and pianist. She taught 5th and 6th graders in Sunday school in the Greggton Missionary Baptist Church for many years. She was later active in the Longview Missionary Baptist Church, and, after moving to San Antonio in 2005, was active in the Churchill Baptist Church in San Antonio. At Churchill, she continued as a pianist for church functions until she was in her nineties. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Clydelle was preceded in death by her husband T. F. in 1992; and by her son-in-law, Colonel Ken Pulket, USA, Ret., in 2015. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Ann Madison of San Antonio, TX, her daughter and son-in-law, Miriam and Charlie Barley of West Monroe, LA, and her daughter, Alice Pulket of Cedar Park, TX; grandsons, Phillip Madison, Andrew Barley, and Thomas Pulket; granddaughters, Merriet Madison, Valerie Barley, and Holly Pulket Klemme; great grandchildren, Xochi and Otto Madison. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the music ministries of Longview Missionary Baptist Church or Churchill Baptist Church, San Antonio, TX.
