Paulette Loan Suttle, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, educator, and woman of faith, was born on June 6, 1948, and passed away peacefully on Good Friday, April 3, 2026. Her life was a testament to love, perseverance, and service to others.
Paulette was the beloved wife of Hollis James Suttle Sr., whom she loved faithfully since her teenage years. Their lifelong marriage reflected deep commitment, enduring partnership, and unwavering love.
She was a proud and loving mother to her daughter, Shannon Suttle-Rodden, and a cherished grandmother to Garrett Rodden and his wife Trinity, Lorelai Rodden, and Libbey Suttle. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews who will continue to carry her memory forward.
She was preceded in death by her son, Hollis James Suttle Jr.; her sister, Judy Clemons; her parents, Minton C. Loan and Faye Loan; and her grandson, Gavin Alyne Rodden.
Paulette’s life was marked by determination and a deep passion for education. She pursued her college degree later in life, demonstrating incredible perseverance and strength. During her time teaching in Corpus Christi, she earned Teacher of the Year honors multiple times, a reflection of her natural gift for teaching and her love for her students.
Following her husband’s retirement from the United States Marine Corps, Paulette returned to East Texas, where her career continued to flourish. She served at Chapel Hill ISD, where her leadership and work ethic quickly led her to become superintendent. She later served as superintendent of Marietta ISD for many years before retiring from public education.
Even in retirement, Paulette’s heart for helping others never faded. She continued teaching at a treatment and incarceration facility, where she helped individuals earn their GEDs and encouraged them to build better futures.
Paulette had a special love for children, animals, and family. She was known for her quick wit, her love of word games, and her humorous dislike of technology—something that always brought a smile to those who knew her. She loved deeply and gave freely, especially to those closest to her.
Above all, Paulette was a faithful follower of Christ. Her faith guided her life, and her family finds comfort in knowing this is not a final goodbye, but a reunion to come. She will be missed dearly for now, but not forever.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Lakeview Funeral Home in Longview, Texas, on Monday, April 13, 2026, at 6:00 p.m.
Her legacy of love, strength, and service will live on in the many lives she touched.
