Ressie Ellen (Reedy) Kelly, a resident of Denton Rehabilitation & Nursing Center, in Denton, Texas, died July 1, 2011, at age 90, after a brief illness. Ressie was born February 12, 1921, in Decatur, Illinois, the eldest of four children born to John Clyde and Della Reedy.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, Norman C. Kelly (1982) and siblings, Norma J. Blalock (1999) and Robert V. Reedy (2001).
She is survived by her children, Joyce (Wilson) Baxter (Charles) of Argyle, Texas, Rhonda (Kelly) O'Brien of Scurry, Texas, and Jennifer Kelly of Fort Worth, Texas; brother, William E. Reedy of Las Vegas, Nev.; grandchildren, Virginia Dimon of Austin, Texas, Kelly (O'Brien) Bronis (Scott) of Scurry, Texas, and Thomas O'Brien of Bonham, Texas; great-grandchildren, Malesha, Yasmyne, Savanna and Alissa; nieces Gloria and Sherry; nephews Bill Jr., Ronald and John, all very dear to her heart.
Ressie loved family, family get-togethers, watching sports events, sewing, ceramics and Dallas Cowboys football. She was a responsible and dependable daughter, a protective sister, a devoted wife, a loving mother and grandmother and a helpful and caring aunt. A spunky, independent and plain spoken lady, Ressie enjoyed her status in the family and was never shy about voicing her opinions. This personality trait delighted and amused most of her family, and they love to tell the stories.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the administrative staff, nurses and CNAs of Denton Rehabilitation & Nursing Center and to Bluebonnet Hospice for their kindness and tender care of Ressie.
There will be a visitation from 9-11 a.m. Saturday, July 9, 2011, at Welch Funeral Home, 4619 Judson Rd., followed by a graveside service at Lakeview Memorial Gardens, 5000 W. Harrison Rd. (FM 2206) in Longview.
