Ronnie Wilemon, 61, of Longview, Texas went to be with our Lord on December 9th, 2023 at home surrounded by his wife and two sons. Ronnie was born on March 19, 1962 in Darmstadt Germany and came to the United States in 1968 and to Longview Texas soon after where he continued to live for the rest of his life. On August 6th, 1982 Ronnie married his soulmate that was the love of his life, Barbara Kassoff. Their love story spanned over 45 years, filled with shared adventures and precious moments. Together they built a beautiful life, a beautiful family and their bond was admired by all who knew them. Above all, Ronnie loved spending time with his family. He was a dedicated husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and most recently a loving Papa. His favorite past time was camping and fishing. He always said the lake was his therapy. He was also a dedicated Dallas Cowboys fan. Ronnie retired from the City of Longview Parks and Recreation Department as a supervisor on December 31, 2009 after almost 28 years of employment. His family will remember him as a pillar of strength and a source of endless love and support. Ronnie was a man of great character and a big jokester. He was loved by all who knew him. His life was full of happiness and joy. He will be greatly missed by those who knew him.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Barbara, son and daughter in law Brandon and Krista Wilemon, son Jonathan Wilemon, Granddaughter Lynnlee Wilemon, Parents Bob and Pat Wilemon all of Longview, Texas, brother and sister in law Mark and Cristi Wilemon of Hallsville, Texas, sister in law and brother in law Karen and Jerry Cook of Liberty City, Texas, numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew him, and his spirit will continue to inspire those who were fortunate to have shared in his journey.
The family would like to say thank you for the care, support and kindness provided by Heart to Heart Hospice, Dr. Lewis Browne, Dr. Koya, Dr. John, Longview Cancer Center and Longview Regional Medical Center. We also would like to express a very special thank you to Charlene McKee, Ronnie's hospice nurse.
The family would also like to express our gratitude for all of the prayers, calls, texts, visits, and meals from our friends and family.
Memorial preparations are under the direction of Lakeview funeral home. Celebration of Life will be held December 16th at 12 pm at Jay Valley Baptist church, 2973 Jay Drive, Longview, Texas 75605 with Brother David Nelson and Brother James Hall officiating.
In lieu of flowers and plants, donations may be made to Jay Valley Baptist Church or the American Cancer society.
