Rosalee R. (Lamb) Kelley
July 23, 1920 – December 21, 2018
Rosalee R. (Lamb) Kelley 98, of Longview, passed away Friday, December 21, 2018. Rosalee was born July 23, 1920 in Huntsville, Missouri to Rev. L. R. and Ruby Lamb. She married Rev. William A. Kelley December 20, 1942 in Fort Worth, Texas. Reserved and somewhat shy until you got to know her but strong-willed at the same time, she lived independently until June, 2018. Her many accomplishments include pastor’s wife, mother, musician and more. She played piano, violin and eight other instruments, most recently as pianist for Forest Hill Baptist Church until May, 2018. She was also a bookkeeper, kindergarten teacher and music teacher and found the time for art, sewing, knitting and other crafts. Born when model T Fords still roamed dirt streets and rutted roads, she embraced new technology as an avid user of e-mail. Friends and family knew that e-mail was the best way to communicate since phone calls were sometimes more difficult. She was quick to say yes when asked about going somewhere, especially if there was food involved. Her independence resulted in a few situations that made life interesting for all. Survived by daughter Sue Hall of Gilmer, daughter Nancy Ray and husband Eddie of Longview, daughter Pam Sackett of Houston and son Truman Kelley and wife Nancy of Dumas, niece Kathy Casey of Tyler, six grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren and other extended family members. Predeceased by her parents, husband Rev. William A Kelley and sister Edwina Hardin. Special thanks to her many caring friends and neighbors who so unselfishly demonstrated their love and concern in many ways. Thanks to the staff at Alpine House, Texas Home Health and Texas Home Health Hospice for the compassionate care she received in her last days. Services will be at Lakeview Funeral Home Chapel on December 27 at 12 noon, Bro. Ted White leading. Please join the family for a reception and visitation immediately after the service. Interment follows in Lakeview Memorial Gardens. Make any memorial donations to Forest Hill Baptist Church on FM 2879 or Lakeview Baptist Church on FM 2011, both near Longview.
