Sally Ruth Benefield Brogden

Sally Ruth (Benefield) Brogden, 93, of Longview passed away on Friday, January 28, 2022, in Longview. She was born September 8, 1928 in Haynesville, Louisiana to parents Shack Benefield and Nettie (Wynn) Benefield.

A graduate of business college, Ruth worked as an office manager for Petco Davis Kemp Tool Company. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Kilgore. She enjoyed fishing, gardening, and spending time with her family.

Mrs. Brogden was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James Brogden; daughter, Linda Brogden; 5 brothers; and 2 sisters.

She is survived by her daughter, Sue Housley and husband Darrell; granddaughter, Kimberly Smotherman and husband Chad; grandson, Jim Housley and wife Kim; great-grandchildren, Reed Housley and wife Emily, Kaelyn Housley, James Housley, and Ruth Housley; brother-in-law, Jerry Brogden and wife Karin; and several nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held Tuesday, February 1, 2022 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Lakeview Funeral Home, 5000 West Harrison Road, Longview, Texas 75604. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM officiated by Pastor Jim Housley and Pastor Josh Howington. Interment will be at Lakeview Memorial Gardens.

Serving as pallbearers will be Donald Benefield, Steve Benefield, Mike Benefield, Steve Silvertooth, Luke Martinez, and Adam Waller.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Brogden’s name to Faith Baptist Church Building Fund, 2304 Stone Road, Kilgore, TX 75662.
