

Sherman (J.R.) Howard Arnold, Jr., 89, of Longview, passed away March 20, 2017 in Longview. He was born January 22, 1928 in Caney, Kansas to Sherman Howard Arnold, Sr. and Clara Alma Rickey Arnold. He graduated from Falfurrias, Texas High School. He married Verna Mae Hardin on September 26, 1948 in Falfurrias, TX. She preceded him in death on May 28, 2015. He retired from Eastman Kodak in 1990 after almost 30 years of service as a Journeyman Welder. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing these great East Texas lakes for bass.
He is survived by his daughter: Penny Dean Hasten and her husband Mike of Gladewater; granddaughter: Holly Richardson and her husband Jerad of Gladewater; great grandson: Hunter Richardson of Gladewater; brother: Wayne Arnold and his wife Gayle of Hallsville; sisters: Clara Negri of Falfurrias, TX, Francy McClenny of Tyler and Helen Trantham of Tyler. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife: Verna Arnold; son: Dennis Arnold; four brothers and two sisters.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 23, 2017 at Lakeview Funeral Home. A celebration of his life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, at the Chapel of Lakeview Funeral Home, Longview, Texas with committal to follow at Lakeview Memorial Gardens. The family would like to say a special Thank You to Heartis Assisted Living and Hospice of East Texas for their great care. Also, Tina Smith and Stormy McCord for sitting with Dad when I so needed them!
