Gail Baker, a devoted sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and faithful servant of her family and the Lord, passed from this life leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, strength, and unwavering devotion to those she cherished most.
Born on December 5, 1949, to Hilas Eugene Metzler and Mary Eloise Metzler, Gail lived a life centered on faith, family, and service. She was the very definition of the virtuous woman described in Proverbs 31, strong, compassionate, hardworking, wise, and deeply devoted to those entrusted to her care. One New Year's Eve, James Milton Baker, Jr. first laid eyes on Gail at Top Burger and immediately knew he wanted to know her. When he asked her out, Gail wasn't interested. Most men might have accepted defeat, but Jimmy being a Baker refused to give up, he parked his car behind hers and used his good ole "Baker charm" until she finally agreed to give him a chance. What began as a determined pursuit became a beautiful love story that lasted more than five decades. Together they were blessed with three children; Patrick Eugene Baker, James Thomas Baker, and Rhonda Renee Baker. Gail loved her children fiercely and dedicated her life to nurturing, guiding, and supporting them. Nothing brought her greater joy than her family. Throughout her life, Gail wore many hats. She was a Certified Public Accountant with H&R Block for nearly 40 years. She also worked as a real estate agent and a bus driver. Yet among all her accomplishments, those who knew her best would agree that her favorite and most renowned role was being "the boss." She managed her family with strength, wisdom, humor, and love, earning the title naturally and wearing it proudly. Gail enjoyed sewing, caring for her family, and serving the Lord. She was the matriarch of the family, the steady foundation, trusted advisor, and loving heart that held generations together. Whether offering guidance, lending a helping hand, or simply making sure everyone was cared for, Gail's presence was a source of comfort and strength. She had a special gift for helping others, especially her friends. She was always, willing to listen, give advice, lend support, or step in and help in any way she could. Her kindness, generosity, and selfless spirit touched countless lives and made her a friend to so many. Though her earthly journey has ended, Gail's legacy lives on through the family she loved, the values she instilled, and the faith she carried throughout her life.
