I was so very shocked and saddened to hear of Alex's passing.  I felt like I had just seen him as we passed through the CHS and Jules Stein Building.  He was always so kind, and such a gentleman.  I will miss seeing Alex's warm smile.

I met Alex when he began working at JSEI, and he was one of those guys that literally everybody knew and who always had time for a quick catch up and chat or laugh. Sweet Alex, we met 4 years ago at the Union Station platform as we both awaited the gold line train to Highland Park. You approached me because I was in my UCLA scrubs and you too worked for UCLA. From that point on, I looked forward to our train rides home. I was so happy that I had “made a friend on the train”. We shared many laughs and stories. I learned about your family, your mama and of course Baxter. Thank you for sharing your kind soul and friendly face with this world and with all those you came in contact with. Que en paz descanses amigo. 

My heart is truly heavy to hear about the passing of my dear friend Alex. Every time Alex saw me on my daily walks, it didn’t matter where I was on UCLA campus or in the village he always joined me. 
He always had a story to tell me.  
When he knew I was was going to visit my family in Pasadena he would let me know if there was an event taking place so I could adjust my schedule.

I met Alex when I volunteered for reporting office and doing the run.   Alex’s was sitting in faculty support on the First floor in the chs building.  I use to tell Alex how sports affects my mood.

Words cannot express how saddled I am to hear of Alex passing. I will remember him in many positive ways; he always had a big smile and a great sense of humor. I met him in the hallway of the CHS building about 4 years ago; at the beginning even though he did not know me he will always say “Good Morning” or “Good Afternoon.” One day during lunchtime my co-worker and I were at the patio having Lunch, and he joined us, after that he would join us occasionally and had great stories, he will always be remember. My deepest condolences for his mother and family.

Alex was a true gentleman through and through--always willing to give a helping hand (with no expectation of anything in return), always kind and friendly, and always WELL DRESSED.  I remember him teaching me not to wear my dress shoes between the bus stop and campus.   My feet have never felt better and my work shoes still look new.  Thank you, Alex, for being such an all-around wonderful person to know and be around--you will be greatly missed.

I will always remember speaking with you about our days throughout the laboratory and all around UCLA each time we saw each other over the years. You were a great person to converse with and had a great positive attitude. I cannot believe you are no longer here with us. You will never be forgotten. Rest well friend! You will be missed. Alex brought a sense of community and "connected-ness" to the workplace at UCLA.  He always had a smile on his face, said 'hi' to everyone he knew in the hallways, and took the time to chat and see how how people were doing.  Even after he transferred to another department, he continued to connect with everyone in our area.   

Alex was a bright and happy presence at UCLA, where we worked together for several years.  He was always friendly, helpful, and ready with a greeting to brighten up your day.  He will be missed.

Still in shock with the news and with a heavy heart, I felt the need to write a message.
Thank You Alex for always saying Hello, I never thanked you and always had in the back of my mind that I should.
You were one of the first persons that I met at UCLA, who smiled at me without knowing who I was. Later we realized that we worked in the same department. You officially became my friend one day during my lunch. I was still creeped out of the building and getting lost in the hallways when I ran into you on the 1st floor. I'm sure I looked lost but you spared my shame and only asked how I was doing, we shared a couple of jokes about how all the corridors looked the same and you said “oh I’m actually walking your way” and that was all. When we got to my office door I told you I was actually lost, and at that moment I confirmed that you would be my official friend, you said “I know, I actually didn’t have to come this way” we laughed. Every single time we saw each other around the building, even at the Village, or on Campus your smile and hello was guaranteed. Thank You Alex.

My heart breaks when I've learned Alex's sudden death.  Little that I've known Alex, its his smile and constant "Good Morning or Afternoon"  greetings that made a mark on me that he was the kind of person with such a good heart & soul.  There can be no pain more terrible and deep than that of losing a son. Though our words can do little, I hope our thoughts and prayers will support you at this time. I am deeply saddened by the loss of Alex Palomo. 

Alex and I worked together in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at UCLA for two years. Alex was loving, giving, kind, hardworking and an overall great friend. One trait that I will always cherish is his giving nature. Alex was aware that I was a single parent and when fall approached, he offered me his GAP credit card. I remember him saying "Ollie, you can get a huge discount for your son's back-to-school clothes! Please, use my credit card."  This is merely one example that speaks to his character.

I will always cherish Alex and pray that the Palomo family is given much comfort during this very difficult time. Rest in peace, my friend.

I'll miss running into Alex in the UCLA hallways.  We talked about his walks. We talked about the events at the Rose Bowl. We talked about our mutual friends from Pasadena.

Alex always walked with his dog Baxter. When Baxter passed, he changed his walking partner to me.  Walking with Alex is like learning the history of Highland Park, he knows every building’s story. When we pass his old school, he will tell me a fond memory where he and his friends will ditch class. He even pointed out a building where a girl from a psych facility escaped and chased him and his friends.  He will show me a restaurant where he had a date once.  
Alex is like a big brother to me and is always looking after me. He was there to cheer me up when he knows I’m down, willing to listen to my problems and give me advice. 
I know that you are in heaven with your original walking partner  Baxter.  Thank you for sharing your stories to me, I will cherish them.  My walks will be lonelier now. 

I wish the Palomo family strength and hope during this very difficult time. Alex was my friend and part of my work family. He will be deeply missed by all of us. Rest in Peace 

I am a friend of Alex's from Garfield Medical Center, enjoyed sharing with him there just some three weeks ago! I loved his sense of humor, his wry wisdom about life, his warmth, his intelligence. I will miss him, always so good when I got to see him, talk with him. Taken much too soon. A very fine man.

I’m stunned by this news. Alex and I met when he worked in pathology. We shared the best conversations and laughs. Kept in touch weekly. I will miss him dearly. He was a great friend and a hard worker. May you find comfort in the happy memories shared. 

Alex, I’m heartbroken with your loss buddy.  I still can’t put into words how I feel. I think back to when I first met you in middle school and when we moved down the street from you.  You’d crack me up when you called for your dog Lila and get mad at my brother when he joked about your jackets and the Eddie Bauer store. You’d come to our house and my parents would tell me, “Tienes que juntarte con Alex, el es un muchacho bueno.” And my parents were right, you were a “muchacho bueno.” Everyone who met you quickly realized that. Although, I’m not sure what you told my dad, he was always telling me to dress like you and to get a flat top like Alex. (lol)

I’m gonna miss you buddy, we’ve had so many great adventures and those memories will stay with me forever.  Knowing you won’t be around anymore and I won’t get to hear the Palomo laugh, the laugh that could light up any room breaks my heart. I love you Buddy!  I’m sure you’ll be schooling me from the heavens.  

I got to know Alex over the last 4 years. We had the same Metro route coming to work at UCLA. It was always a pleasure whenever we would cross paths on the train/bus. We became good friends and got to know each other quite well as we talked on our long commute at least once a week. I will truly miss seeing Alex to brighten up the commute. My deepest condolences to his family & friends. 

I have never met anyone quite like Alex, as kind as he was, but still had such a witty sense of humor. I have a short anecdote as an example.. Whenever he was walking in between his connecting bus lines, he told me he would always keep tic-tacs in his pockets, so if whenever a car got too close to hitting him, or spooked him, he would spook them back by throwing the tic-tacs at their car. No damage to their car, he made sure of, but just a humorous lesson for them to watch for pedestrians. It happened to me a couple times and he would always generously offer me some tic-tacs to "protect" myself.. 

Alex, I will truly miss you and our humorous conversations. May you rest in peace my friend.

Alex was a long time co-worker of ours at UCLA. We were all very shocked and sad to hear of his passing. He was a nice guy and well liked. I’m sorry that he didn't have more time with us here on Earth, and my sincere condolences for your loss. He will be missed.

My memory of Alex goes all the way back to high school in Mr. Miceli's English class.  He was always trying to be funny...succeeded a lot of the times. He and I had the terrible task of standing in front of class and read aloud.  Oh the horror!  He stood up there with me and we suffered together...his poise and words made it easier to bear...he simply said, "let's get this over with."  As the years past, I'd run into him occasionally and he was the same Alex that had something funny to say.

It is so unbelievable that Alex is no longer here.  He was one of the kindest people I had the honor of knowing.  I feel like we just said good morning to each other last week. My cousin Alex,  he was those cool cousin’s everybody wanted to have, I remember him giving me my first pager for one of my bdays,  I was so happy he wanted to put a smile on your face, Alex always wanted to be around family for any special events he always told us to invite him to let him know.  I’m going miss him so much, his showing up unexpectedly to my moms house just to say hi just to check up on us..Sweet, loving, caring,  Alex my cousin gone to soon  love you cousin 

Alex behaved and dressed like a true gentleman. Your helpfulness, smile and laughter will be greatly missed. The hospital will never be the same. 

I am so stunned and saddened to hear his passing. Alex and I have been working together for more than two years. Alex was an incredible man, he was kind, optimistic, humorous, and responsible. He always came to work early in the morning, and talked to me how he enjoyed his work and life. I could not forget how he handed to us our lab deliveries personally. I could not forget that every Friday he reminded us about our group meeting. And I will not forget, early this year, how he comforted me when I felt sad about my hip issue. He had been so nice to me and everyone in the lab. I could not imagine that it was my last meet with him back on July 1st at CNSI. Please accept my deepest condolences. I worked with Alex at Jules Stein for several years before he left the department.  He was my “guy”.  We had some amazing laughs, great conversation and he always knew how to make our day brighter with one of his many stories or jokes.  We loved our “man child” (inside joke).  I saw him about a month ago and he was encouraging me to stay in school, and assured me that I would finish it.  I was looking forward to seeing him around to let him know I applied for graduation, but never would I have believed it would be our last encounter. I couldn’t believe it when I heard of his passing, my heart just sunk.  Rest in Paradise Alex my friend.  My heart goes out his mom who he loved and cherished so.  We will all miss you dearly Alex!!! I can’t believe this is real.  My friend, Alex always made me smile at work.  I worked with him at Garfield and he would always call me “Abby normal.’  He would always brighten the day by just being present because he was such a happy person. Alex is such a wonderful and caring person.  He had the best smile and always had a listening ear. Even when I moved out of California he would reach out to check in on me from time to time. He is truly missed.  We have another angel looking down on us.

We worked together years ago at Garfield back when he was in Rehab. It was a Saturday and my phone rang but I couldn’t pick it up myself so I asked him a favor if he can pick it up for me and he did. What followed was a great reveal of his wonderful character.  He picks it up and says “hello, hello, this is  Dr. Love”  and after he hanged up, we just started laughing so hard. 
Thank you for the love, Alex.  We will remember you for the love you have shared with many of us at work. Rest in peace. 

I worked closely with Alex at UCLA some years back. I am so sorry to hear of his passing. He was a great guy. After he went to work with another group at UCLA I always looked forward to running into him on campus. He was funny and insightful. He is, and  will be, missed. 

I am so shocked and saddened by this news. I still cannot believe it.  I worked with Alex and there never was a time when I saw him that he didn’t smile or say hello to me. Alex, you were always sweet, quick-witted, hard-working and we had some good laughs.  We definitely had some adventures at our last get togethers at the Huntington Library and the "Dinner and show" at La Abeja.   Our last chat was so good!

Alex or Tío Chubby as my kids would call you.  You chuckled every time they yelled it out the car window when they saw you. I am at loss for words.  You’ve touched so many lives. Alex loved NFL football.  He once told me his favorite player was Barry Sanders RB Detroit Lions.  When I reflect on Alex,  it is kind of fitting that Barry was his favorite player.  Alex had some of the same qualities that made Sanders great.  Alex was hard working, dependable, ethical and an overall good person that cared about others.  He will be missed tremendously.  

Alex, it is great to work with you for some years, you have left a fond imprint to all of us. You helped a lot with our things and it is always fun to chat with you. You have a wonderfully warm heart and you are very nice to the people around you. Believe me, it is a rare trait. Thank you! I was looking forward to seeing you at work again but this is now impossible. However, you occupy a part of my memory that cannot be erased. RIP, buddy!

I knew Alex as Adrian's nephew who my sister was good friends with.   He was extended family to me even though we did not get to hang out often.   I am shocked this morning and wish I could have hung out with him  once last time again. Rest in peace Alex, see you on the other side my brother.

This guy! Everyone who met him quickly learn to love him. He became a friend to everyone he met. Nobody brought the laughter more than Pdog. We love you carnal. Your memory will always be in our hearts. 

My dear cousin Alex you will certainly be missed. I’m so grateful I have the memories of talking to you for hours on the phone, you popping up at our family gatherings and always leaving without telling anyone, that’s something Daniel and I would always talk about “where they hell did Alex go?!” When I asked you why you always did that you told me you hated to say bye so you would just leave. Alex, you were always genuine and and despite the distance you were always there. I think I now understand why you didn’t like to say bye. Love you cousin.

Like many of us we’re all in shock that Alex isn’t here with us anymore. But you could ask anyone and they would all agree that Alex was such a genuine, sweet and thoughtful guy. Always greeted you with a smile and knew it was coming from the heart. I’m proud and I am thankful to have had him as a friend. I know his spirit will be by our side and in our hearts. Gonna miss you Bud ❤️ 

I can’t even put the right words together right now but so many of his close friends are sharing the pain of losing this amazing guy. He had a way of letting you know he cared. We will never forget you bro, we have been sharing stories and enjoying recalling the moments we spent growing up together. Salud Palomo we love you brother.
