Eleonore Barbara Gauss

February 9, 1952 – May 4, 2022
Obituary of Eleonore Barbara Gauss
IN THE CARE OF

Pierce Brothers Westwood Village Memorial Park & Mortuary

Though Eleonore Barbara Gauss was enthusiastic and generous, it was sometimes difficult for her to boast about her accomplishments. Eleonore had strong personal convictions, making it hard for her to relinquish those ideals she held dearest to herself. Despite her outer strengths and beliefs, Eleonore sometimes struggled in her efforts to see the world as completely positive. She had incredible insight and yet a quiet reserve. Eleonore always hoped for the best and worked hard towards that end, but believed to always be prepared for plan B to better accept some of life's disappointments.

Eleonore was born February 9, 1952 and was raised in West Hollywood by her parents, Joseph and Elisabeth Wager. Though Eleonore was not the most tolerant of her younger brother Joe when they were young, they “grew” on each other and loved and supported one another as adults.

While those who did not know her well found Eleonore to be somewhat reserved until they got to know her, she was an authentic and devoted friend. While growing up, her best friend was Penelope Brown (Gottlieb), whom she met in 2nd grade. Later in life, she became friends with Arice Da Costa, Kathy Velasquez, Roberta Galvan, and Karen Wiener-Gonzalez among others.

She was blessed with one child, a daughter, Sabrina, of whom she was most proud. Her true pride and joy though came in her only grandchild, Evelyn, for whom Eleonore was the best “Mimi”. She and Evelyn had McDonald’s picnic dates at local parks, play time and crafts at home, and no matter what, always had a plan B in mind. Evelyn regards Mimi as her angel.

Eleonore passed away on May 4, 2022 at at home in West Hollywood, after bravely battling cancer for the last year. She is survived by her partner, Sky; her brother, Joe; her daughter, Sabrina; and her granddaughter, Evelyn.

A graveside service for Eleonore will be held Friday, May 2O 2022 at 12:30 PM.
