

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday July 20, 2024 with Rev. Tim Vance of First Presbyterian Church of Santa Monica officiating. Inurnment will follow at Los Angeles National Cemetery on Monday July 22, 2024. Arrangements are by Pierce Brothers Westwood Village Memorial Park and Mortuary.
Geraldine was born in Wallace, Idaho to Harry and Katherine Cook on March 18, 1923 She grew up in the adjoining small mining town of Kellogg, Idaho. After graduating from from Kellogg High School in1940, Geraldine came to Santa Monica to live with her grandfather John Brayer and attend Santa Monica College (Class of 1942) She then went on to attend UCLA where she met Marvin, and graduated in 1944. She married Marvin G. Webb on January 5, 1945 in Santa Ana, California at the home of Marvin’s parents, Henry and Elsa Webb. Geraldine worked as an elementary teacher for the Santa Monica Malibu School District for 37 years, teaching at Franklin Elementary School in the same classroom for her entire career. She loved teaching third grade, and especially cursive writing to the many students who were fortunate to have Mrs. Webb as their teacher. Her spouse Marvin left UCLA to enlist in the US Navy during World War II. He later served as both a teacher and Assistant Principal at John Adams Junior High School in Santa Monica for 35 years. Geraldine was involved in church and community groups during her 84 years of residency in Santa Monica. She, was a lifetime member of Sigma Kappa Sorority and California Teachers Association
Geraldine is preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Marvin Webb, who passed away on February 20, 1988, as well as her parents Harry and Katherine Cook, and siblings Barbara Cook Wohrle, Marian Cook Waltman, and John Frederick Cook.
Geraldine is survived by daughter Nancy Ramsey and son-in-law Robert Ramsey of Santa Monica, son Mark Webb of Santa Monica, daughter-in-law Rebecca Webb of Wartrace, Tennessee, grandson Alan Webb and Kayla Webb of Huntsville, Alabama, granddaughter Katelyn O’Keefe and William O’Keefe of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, as well as granddaughters Jana Ramsey of Tujunga, CA and Elaine Ramsey, of Granada Hills, Geraldine also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be given to the Alzheimer’s Association or any other organization supporting end stage dementia research.
The family of Geraldine Webb wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the numerous doctors and dentists at UCLA Health, as well as the support and love extended by friends, and caregivers Eleanor Ramcharam, Lissett Fernandez, Magdalena Diaz, and Jana Ramsey. Special thanks is also extended to members and clergy of the First Presbyterian Church of Santa Monica, CA. Finally, the staff at Pierce Brothers Westwood and Valhalla deserve special recognition, as do the participants in Geraldine’s memorial service.
