Mardel Graham Blum of Beverly Hills, California, wife, mother and grandmother, passed away at her home, on Friday, May 6th, 2011. She was born on September 29th, 1936 in Long Beach, California. She attended finishing school in Switzerland and graduated from Poly High, prior to attending USC. She belonged to the Alpha Gamma Delta sorority.
She was a modest person, blessed with artistic talent and great beauty, admired by all who met her. She was a charitable soul to her family, friends and community. She gave her support to many organizations over the years, including Town and Gown of USC, The Assistance League of Southern California, The National Charity League, and the Santa Monica Bay Auxiliary Children's Hospital Los Angeles. She enjoyed attending church at the All Saints Episcopal Church in Beverly Hills, and going to her needlepoint class at the Aristeia in Brentwood. When diagnosed with colon cancer in 2008, she revealed her true essence, that of courage, strength and dignity. She lived with fierce determination and an enduring positive attitude.
For over thirty-two years she sailed through life with David Blum, her loving husband and great companion. She leaves behind a world full of family and friends, all the better for having known her. She will be remembered by her husband David, her brother Douglas, her daughters Trace, Terin, Kim and Karin, her step-daughters Bonnie and Virginia, and her grandchildren, Alex, Raen, Max and Spencer.
She will be cremated and interred at Pierce Brothers Westwood Memorial Park in Westwood, California.
In lieu of flowers, it would be lovely to make a contribution to the Santa Monica Bay Auxiliary Children's Hospital Los Angeles in memory of Mardel Blum.
