

Margarita Martires of Los Angeles, California passed away on Saturday, February 26, 2022 at the age of 62. She was born on May 24, 1959 in Manila, Philippines to Rita and Fernando Martires. In 1971 the family moved to the United States and lived in Westwood, California.
Margarita graduated from Marymount High School in 1977 and continued her education, first at UCLA and eventually earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology from Cal State Northridge. She began working at UCLA Center of Health Sciences immediately after graduating high school. Eventually Margarita answered that “little voice in her head” planted there by her mother to pursue her career of becoming a registered nurse. In 2000 she graduated from Mt. St. Mary’s nursing program and became an RN.
In January 2001 she started working for The County of Los Angeles, Department of Health Services. After 21 years with the County she was preparing for early retirement from Claude Hudson Ambulatory Center. Unfortunately, Margarita succumbed to illness and was unable to see that day.
One of Margarita’s favorite hobbies was playing the piano and organ. What she enjoyed the most was giving piano lessons to little kids.
She was preceded in death by her parents Rita and Fernando Martires.
She is survived by her sister Theresa Turner and her nephews Tyler and Jordan Turner.
Family and friends are invited to attend an Inurnment Service at Pierce Brothers Westwood Memorial Park 1218 Glendon Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90024 on Friday, April 15, 2022 at 11am.
