Walsh, Mary Ann April 25, 1927 – June 7, 2014 Mary Ann Walsh passed away peacefully at her home in Westwood on June 7th, 2014. Mary Ann was born and raised in Detroit. Her mother came by ship to the US , from Poland in 1919, right after World War I . She graduated from Michigan State University in 1949 with a degree in education, and moved to Los Angeles shortly after. In July of 1954, she married Richard, her loving husband for the next 44 years. Mary Ann loved learning, and she had a passion and love for children. She taught elementary school for 34 years, and she was a substitute teacher at St. Paul the Apostle School for several years. She was a big hearted supporter of the Catholic Church and Catholic Education. Mary Ann was a devoted mother for her four children and husband. She was the consummate team player in life, and she always reached out to help other people. Mary Ann loved sports, and was a avid fan of Duke basketball and Coach K. Later in life, she was a docent at LACMA, where she gave tours to school children for 15 years. Mary Ann was preceded in death by Richard, her loving husband of 44 years. She is survived by daughter Julie Ann, sons Richard, Patrick, and Thomas; grandsons Brandon and Sean, and daughter-in-law Jill. A funeral mass will be held at St. Paul the Apostle Church in Westwood at 1 pm on Wednesday June 11th. Visitation will be at Pierce Brothers Mortuary in Westwood, Tuesday June 12th, from 4pm to 6pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to USC Norris Cancer, 1441 Eastlake Ave, L.A., CA 90033, and Loyola High School, 1901 Venice Blvd, L.A., CA 90006

Julie Ann, Richard, Patrick, Jill and Tom, Your mother was a wonderful and energetic lady.We always had so much fun with Aunt Mary Ann and Uncle Dick. I really enjoyed talking to her a few weeks ago. I wish that we could be with all of you, but know that our thoughts and prayers are with you. Julie Ann, Richard, Patrick and Tom, Your mother was a wonderful lady and We in Cincinnati are so sorry for your loss...we have always enjoyed being with Aunt Mary Ann and Uncle she is at peace with her husband...all of you took great care of her and I really enjoyed talking to her a few weeks ago...hope we can all get together soon...know that we are praying ang thinking about all of you! Tom, Pat, Richard, and Julie, I want you to know my thoughts and prayers are with you. I have so many memories of your mom. She fought a valiant fight, and she is free and reunited with your dad.
