Prisca, 48, passed away on September 6, 2026, surrounded by family and friends. Born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii, Prisca studied dietetics in college in Honolulu and San Francisco. She later settled in southern California, where she built a career devoted to caring for her community. Prisca worked as a dietitian and later studied for her nursing degree while working. She went on to serve as a health educator and, most recently, as a school nurse — always finding purpose in taking care of others.
In 2010, Prisca was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. For over a decade, she faced treatment after treatment, procedure after procedure, all while continuing to work full-time and show up for the people who depended on her. Those who knew her saw firsthand what it meant to call her a fighter.
Prisca lived fully. She loved traveling and seeking out new "eating adventures," lion dancing and Chinese culture, finding a good deal, and doing her part for the environment. She never wanted to waste anything — resourceful and practical to her core, and endlessly generous with what she had. A true extrovert, she could strike up a conversation with anyone and everyone, and often did. She was especially devoted to her dog, a companion of 14 years, who she said goodbye to just three weeks before her own passing.
To her younger sister and brother, she was the bossy older sister — the one who was always late, always looking out for them, and always, in her own way, still taking care of everyone around her. She is survived by her father, mother, sister, brother, and many beloved aunties, uncles, and cousins. She will be remembered for her humor, her resourcefulness, her fierce loyalty, and her endless capacity to be a big sister to everyone she met.
A memorial service will be held in October at Holy Family Catholic Church in South Pasadena, California. A second service will follow in November at the Sacred Hearts Academy Chapel in Honolulu, Hawaii. Her urn will be laid to rest at Hawaiian Memorial Park Cemetery in Kaneohe, Hawaii."
