OBITUARY

Ramona Dawn Johnson

October 21, 1920 – October 27, 2021
Obituary of Ramona Dawn Johnson
IN THE CARE OF

Pierce Brothers Westwood Village Memorial Park & Mortuary

Ramona Dawn Johnson of Alpine, California passed away on October 27, 2021, at the age of 101. She was born in Richmond, California and spent most of her childhood growing up in the area of Los Angeles. She especially enjoyed her time living on a ranch with her mother, stepfather, and grandparents.

Ramona graduated from Fremont High in 1939 and went to work as a clerk at Thrifty’s Drug Store for a short time. Then World War II arrived, and she went to work for North American Aviation helping to build airplanes for the war effort. While working there she met Nathan Johnson whom she married on New Year’s Eve in 1944. They made their home in Hawthorne, California where they raised their two children. Ramona was a stay-at-home mother until Nathan fell ill in 1974 and could no longer work. Determined to support her family and send her son and daughter through college, she re-entered the job market and became an insurance representative for the Independent Order of Foresters from whom she received numerous awards.

After retirement, she worked for a law office part time and devoted herself to cultivating her garden, tending to her cats, and spending time with family and friends.

She is survived by her children Terrell K. Johnson and Marla L. Anderson, grandchildren Alexandra Johnson, Travis Anderson, and Ryan Anderson, and her three great grandchildren, all of whom will sorely miss her.

The family would like to thank Alpine View Lodge Memory Care for the care and compassion they showed our loved one in her final days.

Interment will be at Westwood Village Park.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Ramona’s honor to the Humane Society at humanesociety.org, or other animal rescue group of your choice.
