Rosella G. Morgan passed away peacefully on November 1, 2018. She was a fierce and fiery protector of her family and friends, ready to aid and support no matter the task, while always shining the spotlight on others. Rosella was a perfectionist, an expert giver of parties, always elegant and perfectly coiffed with pearls in place. She could fix anything, adored gadgets and was the first to own every new appliance invented. She raised millions of dollars for worthy causes and championed those who needed a boost to reach their potential.
Rosella Maurine Gentry was born on July 5, 1925 in Leavenworth, Kansas. She was the third of six children born to Lloyd and Mabel Gentry. She was always the smallest in the family, which might be the reason she was also the strongest willed and spunkiest of the group. The family moved to La Junta, Colorado, where her father, a senior executive with the JC Penny Company, opened a new store. This is where Rosella grew up and made life- long friends.
In 1945, Rosella met Captain John A. Morgan, a decorated war hero and battalion surgeon with the 10th Mountain Infantry. It was love at first sight. A year-long courtship, 52 years of marriage and a life filled with love and laughter followed.
Rosella and John moved to Los Angeles in 1946, where daughter Kathy and son Doug, who preceded Rosella in death, were born. Most of Rosella’s energy was focused on her family, but she was also active with charity work and other organizations. These included being president of the Gold Diggers, a small group of women, who raised millions of dollars for disabled children; and, the Medical Wives Auxiliary at the French Hospital. However, her favorite hobby was celebrating her friends. Her parties were grand affairs and remembered by all.
When Rosella lost her beloved Dr. John, she began attending international film markets with her daughter. She became the hostess and good will ambassador for Kathy Morgan International. She had her own KMI business card with the title “Mom”, which is what she was called by everyone in the film industry.
Rosella’s spirit and spunk will be greatly missed by her brother, Earl, her daughter, son-in-law, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, the Kommers Clan and all whose lives she blessed.
