Stefania Kurcio-Ostrow, M.D. of Huntington Beach, California passed away Thursday April 14, 2022, in Huntington Beach. Dr. Stefania was born in Wysocice, Lesser Poland Voivodeship on January 1, 1924. She was the daughter of Stanislaw and Stefania (Nowakowska) Rucinski. She was married to the late Wladyslaw Kurcio, M.D.,Ph.D. in Wroclaw, Poland in 1950 and was remarried to the late Edward Ostrow, J.D. in the United States in 1978.

Dr. Stefania was a graduate of Wroclaw Medical University 1951 in Wroclaw, Poland. She completed residency and specialized in Pediatrics in Poland where she practiced medicine for 30 years. Dr. Stefania immigrated to the United States in 1981. Being a retired physician, she continued providing medical care to the elderly, helping them lead healthy lives with her initiative, kind words, and beautiful smile. Dr. Stefania was a wonderful mother and a pioneer for her family helping them immigrate to the United States.

Dr. Stefania attended St. Bonaventure Church in Huntington Beach and Our Lady of the Bright Mount Polish Church in Los Angeles. Surviving family members are two daughters Grazyna “Grace” Dymek, M.D. and Leela Chmielewski, M.D., D.D.S. (husband Waldemar Chmielewski, D.D.S.); four grandchildren Joanna Antolakis, J.D., M.B.A. (husband Stephanos Antolakis B.S.C.S.), Dagmara Almand, M.A., Tomasz Chmielewski, M.A., M.B.A. (wife Kristie Chmielewski, M.S., Ph.D.), and Maksym Dymek, M.D. (wife Patricia Dymek, M.D., M.B.A); and six great-grandchildren Natalie Boedefeld, Vanessa Antolakis, Ava Almand, Michael Antolakis, Marcus Dymek, and Charlotte Chmielewski. Dr. Stefania was preceded in death by her siblings Waleria, Genowefa, Miroslawa and Stanislaw (Leszek); her granddaughter’s husband Christopher Almand, J.D. in 2010 and her son-in-law W. Alex Dymek, M.D. in 2021.
