Blanca Acevedo

Born in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico to parents Antonio & Isabel SotoMayor, she married at the age of 18 to Amos Acevedo and moved to Brooklyn, New York where she had two children; son Amos Jr. and daughter Gerarda “Ada”. After her husband passed away in 1964, Blanca spent a few years in Puerto Rico and returned to New York to enjoy her grandchildren. She lived with her daughter and family for many years before finally relocating near her son in California. Blanca lived a life full of family and love. Even at 91, she enjoyed her daily mile-long walks with her son.

Blanca is preceded in death by her parents, husband Amos, daughter Ada, brothers Manuel & Heriberto, and sister Lillian. She is survived by sisters Isabel “Yia” and Ana; son Amos (Karen); son-in-law Arthur; 4 granddaughters, Olivia (Leo), Lisa (Jose), Melissa (Camilo), & Courtney; 9 great-grandchildren, Viviana, Adriana, Gabriella, Leonardo, Brianna, Joseph, Cole, Lee, & Allison; and 1 great-great-grandchild, Adalina.

Grandma, Abuelita, Nana, Mommy, Wife, Amazing Woman, are just a few ways we lovingly refer to her. 91 years was not long enough. Her smile, sharp tongue, and quick wit will be dearly missed.
