

Delbert Norman Chausse was born July 12, 1936 in Medford Oregon to Norman and Elizabeth Chausse. He passed peacefully at home in Paso Robles California on May 10, 2026 he was 89 years old. He enjoyed his last day with his whole family, celebrating Mother's Day. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mary Ann, a daughter, Suzanne, a son Thomas, six grandchildren and one great grandchild, and a sister Arlene.
He married Mary Ann on July 2, 1963 in Omaha, Nebraska, they had 62 wonderful years together. They raised two children and built a life filled with love.
He attended the University of Southern Oregon followed by the University of Denver where he received his master’s degree in library science. He worked as a librarian for 62 years, starting his educational career in Tonopah, Nevada, continuing in Eureka, Reedley, San Jose, and Los Osos, California. He also worked for many years at Cuesta College as a reference librarian and educator.
He served in the U.S. Army National Guard from 1959-1965.
He was a longtime member of Cayucos Evangelical Free Church, the Masonic Lodge, and Elks Lodge of Paso Robles.
His true passion was genealogy, researching an extended family tree back 400 years. He enjoyed rock collecting all over the United States. He loved to travel and made countless journeys across the country.
Del was known for his kindness and generosity, a friend to everyone, he could strike up a conversation with anyone. He touched countless lives.
The funeral will be a private family gathering at Los Osos Valley Memorial Park. A celebration of life will take place at later date.
