Gerald "Jerry" M. Mintz, 75, of San Luis Obispo, passed away on February 23, 2020. Gerald is survived by his wife of 47 years, Barbara (Carp); his sister Ruth (Larry) Katz of Mt. Laurel, NJ; his children Jeffrey (Jenny) of Santa Barbara, David of San Jose, Jessica (Tabber) of Honolulu, HI, and Jenni (Steven) of Oxnard; his grandchildren Abigail, Emily, Jacob, Levi, Quorra, Valen, Charlotte, and Tyler.
Gerald was born in Philadelphia, PA to Herman and Freda (Azoff) Mintz. Gerald graduated from Central High School in Philadelphia, PA in 1962. He then attended Penn State University for a few years before enlisting in the Air Force. He was stationed in Michigan from 1965 to 1968. Upon returning home from service, Gerald enrolled at LaSalle in Philadelphia, where he completed his B.S. in Electronic Physics in 1971. Gerald moved his family to San Luis Obispo, California in 1992 where he has lived since. Gerald was a lifelong student, taking classes throughout his life in fields such as automotive, photography, computer networks, and law. Gerald was a member of the American Legion, a board member of Congregation Beth David, and loved his dogs Sparky and Shana. Most of all, he was a deeply devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Gerald was preceded in death by his parents and his son Jason. A service will be held at noon on March 1, 2020 at Los Osos Valley Memorial Park in Los Osos, CA.
