It is with great sadness that the family of John Muller announce his passing on September 2, 2024. John passed away peacefully surrounded by his family and friends that loved him dearly. His death was unexpected, yet the family is beyond grateful for the last two months that they were able to spend with him.
John was a combat wounded Vietnam veteran who was very involved in the local Marine Corp League, playing a major part during the annual “Toys for Tots” drive. He was a 39 year member of the San Luis Obispo Elks Lodge and worked in the mental health field for many years, retiring as a nursing supervisor.
John was passionate about his family, fishing and his community. He loved family “down time” together, backyard barbecues and camping trips. And when those things overlapped, it was even better. John was known to indulge in camping trips to his old stomping grounds in the Eastern Sierras that would start out for two weeks, and would sometimes extend up to six weeks. He had all the hooks and bobbers a man could dream of for fishing and believed that two lines in the water at one time was the way to go. Sitting waterside with two fishing lines in the water, with a Budweiser in hand and family by his side, was where he was happiest.
John was preceded in death by his parents Albert and Mary, his brothers Albert and Frank, and his wife Donna Muller. He is survived by his son Mark Muller Johnson, daughter-in-law Teresa, daughter Joni Hall, son-in-law Kevin, granddaughter Lupine, sister Mary Kimble, many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and many loyal friends.
John set a wonderful example on the best way to live: be in the moment, take care of the people around you and make friends everywhere you go in life. He will be missed every day. Our family is extremely thankful for all the memories, the multitude of funny photos and love that he shared with all of us.
