Julie Gatewood Miller

Julie Gatewood Miller passed away on Monday, September 14 peacefully in her home at age 71 due to pancreatic cancer. Julie grew up in Saratoga, California. She attended Cal Poly and received an elementary teaching credential. After moving to Los Osos, she taught for the Atascadero Unified School district. Later, Julie returned to Cal Poly and earned a special education credential. She was employed by the San Luis Obispo County Office of Education Infant Development Program which served children with special needs and their families.

Julie's greatest passion was her family, which brought her great joy. She was a vegetarian and believed strongly in the ethical treatment of animals. She enjoyed gardening, dogs and hiking on the Central Coast. Julie and Larry enjoyed watching professional baseball together. They attended a least one game in every major league ballpark from Seattle to San Diego.

Julie is survived by her husband, Larry, son Michael, daughters Dana and Emily and grandchildren, Wesley and Zola.
