Leo Robert "Bob" Dugan was born on October 8, 1941, in Elwood, Indiana, to Leo and Elizabeth Dugan. He was the youngest of three children, following his sisters Trenna and Elise. The loss of his father at a young age shaped much of Bob's outlook on life. He developed a deep sense of personal responsibility and learned to persevere through difficult circumstances. As a father, he sought to pass along the lessons he had learned, encouraging his children to act with integrity and develop a faith that would help sustain them through life's challenges.
In time, his mother married Harold Kirchen, and Bob's family grew to include two brothers and two sisters.
On February 5, 1960, Bob married Jean McDonald and together they raised eight children: Kelly, Patrick, Kimberly, Robert, Timothy, Michael, Samuel, and Erin. Bob worked hard throughout his life to provide for his family. He encouraged his children to be responsible, make thoughtful decisions, and build meaningful lives for themselves and their families.
Bob enjoyed a long and accomplished career in the mortgage industry, owning his own company, establishing mortgage divisions, and serving as CEO of credit unions. From the challenges he faced early in life, he developed a determination, resilience, and strong work ethic that would serve him throughout his career and become part of the example he set.
After spending much of his early life in Indiana and later making his home in California, Bob embarked on new chapters that took him to Oregon, Florida, and eventually Arizona. Following his marriage to Deborah Cook, they enjoyed traveling extensively and exploring new places. He admired different cultures that seemed to value living well and spending time with family and friends rather than simply working, a perspective that resonated deeply with him.
Bob is survived by his beloved wife, Deborah, with whom he shared 32 years of marriage; his eight children, Kelly, Patrick, Kimberly, Robert, Timothy, Michael, Samuel, and Erin; his cherished grandchildren, Sierra, Seth, Braeden, Christopher, Katlyn, Stephen, Rachell, Duncan, Garrison, Oliver, Jazmine, Kylie, McKenzie, Quenton, and Daden; and his great-grandchildren, Waylon, Violet, Oliver, Kyrie, and Bradley.
He is also survived by his sisters, Trenna, Elise, Marguerite and Jacqueline; his brothers Harold, Anthony and many extended family members who will continue to treasure his memory.
Bob will be remembered for his strength, determination, and the impact he had on his family. The example he set through hard work and perseverance and the family he helped build will remain a lasting part of the lessons he taught us. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
