

Manuel John Reis, 87, returned to God's hands on November 25, 2014 at Cottage Hospital surrounded by his loving wife, Mary and family. Manuel was born in August, 1927 to Portuguese Azorean immigrants. He married his beloved Mary on November 29, 1952 and they made their first home with his parents John and Maria Reis on the family dairy farm where the Arroyo Grande Kmart stands today. He lived a full life as a farmer and dairyman; and with his son, Len, ran the Pumpkin Patch on Los Osos Valley Road until recently. Manuel is survived by his wife, Mary; four children: Ed (Kathy), Leonard (Josselyn), Ron (Carol) and Judy; grandchildren: Chad, Dustin, Samantha, Danny and Scott; and great-granddaughter, Juniper. He is also survived by his sister, Sister Theresa Reis of Santa Barbara and numerous nieces and nephews. Manuel is also survived by his pet dogs, Katie, Hope (Hopeless) and Queenie. Visitation will be Monday, December 8, at 4:00pm, followed by a rosary at 6:00pm at Los Osos Valley Mortuary. Mass will be on Tuesday, December 9, at 10:00am at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Los Osos, followed by a reception at the church after the interment.
