

Margaret Rose Vyne, 89 passed away peacefully on March 25, 2026 surrounded by her loving family. Margaret, the youngest of seven children, was born in Grandview, WA to Dennis & Isma Wininger on February 17, 1937.
Margaret graduated from Grandview High School in 1955 and received a scholarship to attend Nursing School in Yakima, WA. She enjoyed being an RN and spent the majority of her long career at Sierra Vista Hospital in San Luis Obispo and then Auburn Faith Community Hospital. Margaret retired in 2000 from the Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power Plant where she worked as a nurse in the Medical Facility.
Margaret, known as ‘Marge’ to all of her friends, enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting and quilting. She lovingly made scores of beautiful baby blankets, sweaters, doilies and amazing quilts for family, friends and ministries over the years. She also enjoyed reading and watching sports of all kinds. She continued doing crossword puzzles, mazes and Wordle to keep her mind sharp. Margaret always maintained that we need to be our own best advocate in this life. She faced many challenges but her faith in God remained the source of her strength.
Margaret is survived by her children: Carol Soares and her husband Ralph of Grover Beach, CA, Michael Bard and his wife Carri-Ann of Branson, MO; Six grandchildren: Cassidy Bard, Steven Bard, Nicholas Soares, Janthinee Bard, Robert Bard, Grace Bard and two great-grandchildren: Adeline & Delilah Bard. ‘Aunt Margaret’ will also be missed by all of her nieces and nephews.
Margaret was preceded in death by her husband Ray Vyne, her son Roland Mark Bard and her brothers and sisters: Walter Wininger, Bernard Wininger, Mary Powell, Betty Nelson, Jean Myers and Leo Wininger.
The family would like to thank the many Visiting Angels that provided assistance and specifically SLO Hospice volunteer Alyssa Knight for her care and compassion over this last year. We would also like to thank the nurses at French Hospital for the excellent care they provided our mom during her final days.

A family graveside service will be held at the Los Osos Valley Mortuary on Monday June 29, 2026 at 2:00pm.
