Thomas “Tommy” Pimienta Sr., 74, passed away peacefully at home on October 11, 2024, surrounded by his family after a hard-fought battle with cancer. Born in Bakersfield, CA, on August 30, 1950, to Atanacio Pimienta and Maria De La Luz Rocha, Tommy was one of 17 children.
After the birth of his son, Tommy moved to San Jose, CA, where he worked at the Ford Manufacturing plant. Thirteen years later, he returned to his hometown of Bakersfield, where he served the community working for the city of Bakersfield as a heavy equipment operator. He proudly worked for the city until his retirement and in 2015, he relocated to Los Osos, CA, to live with his son and embrace a relaxed beach lifestyle.
Tommy quickly fell in love with beach life. He was well known in his grandchildren’s school and quickly became known in the community as “Grandpa Tom”. He enjoyed walking up to five miles a day, visiting with neighbors, and taking drives. His love for coffee, always black, and his passion for sweets were well known among his family. He was also a loyal 49ers fan. Tommy had a great sense of humor, which he kept even throughout his illness, always bringing smiles to those around him.
Though he wore many hats throughout his life, the one he was most proud of was being a grandpa. He cherished his grandchildren and loved spending time with them. His generous heart knew no bounds, and his family was always at the center of his life.
Tommy is preceded in death by his father Atanacio and his mother Luz. Tommy is survived by his son, Tom Pimienta Jr. (Dawn), grandchildren Daisy and Brody Pimienta; daughter Stephanie Behill, grandson Nathaniel Rodriguez (Alexis), great-granddaughter Cyrah Rodriguez, granddaughter Michaela Rodriguez and son Jesse Behill (Stephanie) grandchildren Lilly and Matthew Behill. He is also survived by 9 brothers, 7 sisters, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Tommy will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His legacy of love, laughter, and family will continue to live on in the hearts of his children, grandchildren, and the many lives he touched throughout his lifetime.
A mass will be held on November 8, 2024 at 12:00pm at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 2050 Palisades Ave, Los Osos, CA. A graveside service will follow the mass at 2pm at Los Osos Valley Memorial Park, 2260 Los Osos Valley Road.
