Yvonne Ruth Smith

Yvonne Ruth Tanberg Smith went to be with the Lord on July 15, 2016. She was born on September 26, 1923 to Lucille and Henry Tanberg in Fostoria Ohio. In 1942 Yvonne enlisted as a wave in the United States Navy after hearing about her brother Albert's status as a World War II prisoner of war. She completed Naval training at Hunter College in New York City. She was station in Norman Oklahoma and became a librarian. She was a lifetime member of AMVETS Post 56 in Tulare California. Yvonne married John T Norvell in 1947 and together they raised four children. Judy Norvell Davenport, Iowa; John A. Norvell, and Neil Norvell, both from Pahrump, Nevada and Sheri Norvell Higgins, Nipomo, Ca. She enjoyed being a full-time homemaker. In 1971 Yvonne married Clinton T Smith in Tulare, Ca. She is preceded in death by her brother Albert Neil Tanberg, POW 1944, and her parents and younger brother Robert Jackson Tanberg. she is survived by a sister Norma Lou Shook of Cape Coral Florida, her four children, seven grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and six great great grandchild. Yvonne loved and adored each and everyone of them. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family. A viewing will be at Los Osos Memorial Park Friday, July 22, 2016 from 4:30 PM to 8:30 PM at 2260 Los Osos Valley Rd., Los Osos , CA 93402 Memorial service with be at 10:00AM Saturday July 23, 2016 at Marian Extended Care Conference Room 1530 Cypress Way Santa Maria, Ca. 93454 Gravesite Military honors at 11:00 AM Tulare cemetery 900 E. Kern Ave. Tulare, Ca. 93274.
