Allen Jerrell Johnson, Jr., age 74, peacefully returned to his Heavenly Father on April 30, 2026. He was born on April 19, 1952, in Nashville, Tennessee, to the late Allen Jerrell Johnson, Sr. and Geraldine Lillian (Pye) Johnson.
Allen was raised in Nashville where he was baptized at an early age and began his Christian journey at 40th Avenue Church of Christ. He later placed his membership at Hyde’s Ferry Road Church of Christ where he was a teacher and song leader before moving to Louisville, Kentucky more than 40 years ago.
Allen attended the Nashville Christian Institute and later graduated from North High School. He continued his education at Tennessee State University, earning a bachelor’s degree in accounting—a foundation that led to a dedicated 20-year career with Humana Insurance Company before his retirement.
In December of 1992, Allen married the love of his life, Marion, and together they built a life rooted in love, faith, and family. He lovingly embraced her daughters as his own, forming a bond of love.
Allen found joy in the simple but meaningful things in life. He had a deep love for the Tennessee Titans, music and praising God, and he shared his gift as a singer with his church family at West Broadway Church of Christ. His voice brought joy to many, but even beyond music, Allen expressed his love through cooking. His homemade rolls were more than just food—they were an expression of his warmth, generosity, and the way he cared for others. Being in his home meant being well-fed and well-loved.
Known for his gentle spirit and kind heart, Allen had a quiet strength that left a lasting impression on everyone he met. He was a devoted husband, a loving stepfather and grandfather, a caring brother, and a true friend. His presence brought comfort, laughter and peace. Allen’s absence will be deeply felt.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Sharon Johnson and Arlinda Frazier, and his brother, Robert Johnson.
He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife of nearly 34 years, Marion R. Johnson; his devoted stepdaughters, Kristie T. Smith and her husband André Smith, and Brittney N. Smith and her husband Frederick D. Smith; his cherished grandchildren, Kristen T. Smith and her fiancé Oliver B. Gray, Kennedi T. Smith and Brent J. Smith; his loving siblings, Jacqueline Clayborne, Kenneth Johnson, Quincy Johnson (Margie), John Johnson (Edena), Ronnie Johnson (Jennifer), Chander Cash (Early), Darrell Johnson, and bonus brother, Michael Jose Jones; his sister-in-law, Angela T. Ingram and her husband Mark Ingram; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and dear friends who will forever hold him in their hearts.
A visitation will be held on Friday, May 15, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Evergreen Funeral Home in Louisville, Kentucky.
Visitation will resume at West Broadway Church of Christ in Louisville, Kentucky the following day, Saturday, May 16th, 2026 at 10:00AM. A homegoing service celebrating Allen’s life will follow the same day beginning at 11:00 a.m. A committal will take place at Evergreen Cemetery at 12:30 p.m. He will be entombed at Evergreen Cemetery.
