Allen Ray Rieman

Allen died peacefully in his sleep on September 10, 2026, at his home in Lexington, Kentucky, surrounded by his family. He is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 63 years, Joyce; his children, Katherine Joyce (Phil) Rieman-Corkrean of Riverview, Florida, and Mark Allen Rieman of Riverview, Florida; his granddaughters, Cassidy Brooke Rieman of Fort Myers, Florida, and Allison Marie Rieman of Lexington, Kentucky; his bonus grandsons, Philip Corkrean of Riverview, Florida, and Ryan Corkrean of Orlando, Florida; his aunt, Harriet Peterson of Dowagiac, Michigan; his brother, Roger (Rita) Rieman of Ocala, Florida; and many cousins, including Susan Armstrong of Niles, Michigan.

Allen graduated from Michigan State University in 1963 with a degree in Hospitality Management. He and Joyce moved to Lexington in December 1968 when Allen accepted a position as Director of Food Services at the University of Kentucky. He was later promoted to Director of Auxiliary Services, overseeing Food Services, Housing, and Real Property.

Throughout his career at the University of Kentucky, Allen’s primary goal was to provide the very best services to UK students while maintaining responsible budgets. During his tenure, he served as United Way Chairman and as Director of the College Business Management Institute (CBMI), which brought university administrators from across the United States to Lexington. He was also a proud University of Kentucky basketball fan and held season tickets for more than 20 years.

Allen was a devout Christian and served for many years as a Deacon and Finance Chairman at Tates Creek Christian Church. He and Joyce were also members of First Christian Church, both in Lexington.

Allen was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He and Joyce spent many years of their retirement traveling throughout the United States, including frequent trips to Florida to visit their children and grandchildren. Some of their most treasured memories were made during family vacations in Daytona, Orlando, St. Augustine, and Anna Maria Island.

Allen was a true man of values. He loved his family deeply and was always a calm, steady presence in their lives. He was one of those rare people whom everyone seemed to love—eternally positive, loving, generous, and full of faith. His kindness, quiet strength, and unwavering love for his family will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

After battling Multiple Myeloma for several years, Allen spent his final days at home with the people he loved most. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Blood Cancer United at bloodcancerunited.org in his memory.
