Alma Carlene Mills Branch Miles was born May 11th, 1931 in a house on Shippingport Island to Carl and Edna Mills. Carlene's father Carl was a lockmaster at the McAlpine dam. She had many stories to tell about the 1937 flood and bathing and fishing in the Ohio River with her father. She graduated from Shawnee Girls High School in 1950 and attended the University of Louisville. She was a former secretary for Olschein's Department Store. She loved to tell you about being in the Derby parade in the 1925 REO and her adventures around Louisville and the places she had visited in her 92 years. Carlene had a wonderful sense of humor and could always make you laugh. She will truly be missed.
Carlene was preceded in death by her children, Ellis Branch Jr and Phillip Branch; her first husband, Ellis Branch; and her second husband, Frank Miles. She is survived by her friend and caregiver, Eva GallowayMany thanks to Sherry Hack for always being there to help.
Services will be private. Carlene's cremated remains will be placed in Evergreen Cemetery.
