Alta (Dixon) Back, age 89, passed away May 4, 2019 at Lincoln Hills Health Center, New Albany, Indiana. She was born November 18, 1929 to the late Eddy and Vina Dixon. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Vearla K. Back, eight brothers and two sisters.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Janet Beatty and Teresa Churchill, son Gary Back (Sally); six grandchildren, Dwayne Beatty, Jenny Shane (Forrest), Kevin Back (Renee), Megan Lyon (Terry), Billie Ann and Heather Churchill; three great grandchildren, Rowan, Alana and Isaac; one surviving sister, Gladys Creech, brother-in-law, Lawrence Back (Barbara), sister-in-law Mildred Back, sister- in-law Lenna Dixon and many cherished nieces and nephews.
Alta enjoyed sewing, crafts, square dancing, family, her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She especially enjoyed performing “The Judds” with her sister, Gladys, at family reunions, what joy they brought us! She was a loving, kind and caring person.
Her family would like to thank SouthernCare Hospice for their care of our mother.
Visitation is Wednesday, May 8, 2019 from 12:30 until 2pm with the Celebration of Life at 2pm at Evergreen Funeral Home.
