

Archie Lee Schmitt, 71, of Louisville, passed away on the morning of November 1, 2012, surrounded by his loving family. He was retired from the U.S. Navy with over 26 years of service, and then retired a second time as a maintainence tech for several real estate properties.
Archie was a member of the Church of Our Savior, where he ushered and volunteered. He was known to "fix" anything that was in need of repair. He was a woodworker and a gardener, and the type of man that would give you the shirt off his back. Always had a smile on his face and was very kind hearted and giving. His family was his heart especially the grandchildren and great-grandson - they truly were the light of his life.
He will be cherished by his sweetheart of 15 years, Brenda Durham Schmitt; and his children, Loida (Jim) Hill, Tonya (Larry) Booth, Tina (David) Black; grandchildren, Eric (Loren), Brittany, Scott, Erica, Andrea, Kristen, Travis; and one great-grandson, Jaxon; sister, Nancy Baize, and brother, Archie Kendall; and his beloved dog, Mitzy.
Archie's Life Celebration will be held on Monday, November 5, 2012 at noon, at the Arch L. Heady at Resthaven Chapel, 4400 Bardstown Road, with entombment in Resthaven Memorial Park. A visitation for family and friends will be on Sunday from noon-8 p.m. and Monday from 9 a.m. till service time at the funeral home.
