Arvel E Antle

Arvel Eugene Antle, age 96, passed away peacefully on July 10,2026. He was born in Adair County, Kentucky on May 27, 1930, to Vertis and Lizzie Antle. He was a lifetime member of the J&H Sportsman Club in Louisville, Kentucky. He spent 28 years at Louisville Chair and Furniture as a foreman on the table line. After leaving Louisville Chair, he worked for Midwest Paper with many of his family members. He retired and then came back out of retirement to continue working there until they closed. Arvel was an avid beer drinker and gardener. He was a true country boy and was so proud of his home of 29 years in Rough River, Ohio Co., where he grew acres of produce. He was handy and could build anything, his family remembers him saying, “If I can’t fix it, it can’t be fixed”. He had an engineering mind, he was smart, strong, and his family will miss him dearly.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Della Antle; his son, Ronnie Lee Antle; his sister, Evalene Antle and her husband Bud; his brothers, Ernest Antle, Bobby Antle and his wife Phyllis, Alan Antle, Roy Dale Antle and his wife Peggy, Joe Antle and his wife Ruth Ann; his grandsons, Bradley Dale Antle and Little Ronnie Antle; and his brothers-in-law, Bobby Holt and Eddie Lee.

He is survived by his children, Gary Antle and his wife Judy, Bruce Antle and his longtime partner Mary Johnson, and Shirley Colmore and her husband Gary; his sisters, Maxine Antle, Ida Bea Holt, and Mary Frances Lee; his grandchildren, Tabatha King (Mike), Little Bruce Antle, Jennifer Colmore, Miranda Antle (Chico), Stephanie Antle, and Stacy Miller (Jimmy); his sisters-in-law, Donna Antle and Betty Jean Antle; 10 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

A visitation for Arvel will be held at Evergreen Funeral Home in Louisville, Kentucky on Friday, July 17, 2026, from 4:00PM to 8:00Pm. A funeral service will take place the following day at the same location beginning at 10:00AM. He will be laid to rest alongside his wife at Evergreen Cemetery.
