Barbara J. (Menendez) Hamric, age 89 passed peacefully into eternity on the evening of Monday, August 12 after a battle with frontal-temporal dementia. She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years Glenn O. Hamric. Barbara was born in Anmoore, West Virginia and graduated from Bridgeport High School.
She is survived by her loving daughters Diana (Gary) Maslowski and Laura (Tony) Ernspiker, Grandchildren Roy (Melanie) Gorman, Megan Gorman(Richie Abell), Wynter(Jon) Rupp, Chase (Marcella) Gorman, Kara (David) Kuykendall and Alayna Maslowski (JT Simonton). She was blessed by Several “bonus” grandchildren and 17 great Grandchildren and one great-great gandchild.
Barbara was a member of the United Methodist church her entire life and served her savior faithfully in the choir, youth and children ministries, circle and bible studies. She was employed by Old Colony Insurance until her retirement.
Barbara had many hobbies—she was an expert bridge player, square danced, painted, loved to play games (especially scrabble and dominos), work jigsaw puzzles and baked the most delicious chocolate pies, home-made pizza and pepperoni rolls (a tribute to her home state of West Virginia). She was a staunch UL fan and was a football season ticket holder for many years. And if prompted, she would gladly sing the West Virginia Fight song!
The last words her daughters heard her utter were “I love you”—we should all be so lucky to have such a loving mother and family and so it is with her last words we urge you to also “love one another”.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to Hosparus.
