Barbara Ann Wise was born on March 16, 1936 and passed on peacefully on September 22, 2020.
Immediately after the birth of her first child, she left a promising career with a growing law firm to pursue her true calling….
She was a teacher, a bus-driver, and the lunchroom lady.
She was a gourmet chef and a short-order cook.
She was a cleaning service; top rated, 5 stars, and award winning.
She was a full-time mediator, judge and jury; doling out well deserved sentences and giving reduced time for good behavior (we never served a full sentence).
She was an accountant, meticulously keeping her records, insisting on a balanced budget.
She was a vacation planner and cruise director.
She was a 24/7/365 childcare center. There was never a waiting list. Children, young and old, were always welcome.
She loved spending time reading, telling a good joke, and staying at her “place at the lake”… her home away from home.
She was many things to many people: Wife, Mom, GrandBob, GeeBee, Daughter, Sister, Aunt, Friend, but ultimately, she was always present and active in our lives. She loved her children, their spouses, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, instilling in them a strong family bond, a quirky sense of humor (that Dad never quite understood), and a zest for life we can only hope to imitate.
She was the devoted mother of Tia Clark (Tony), Joe Lopez (Lori), Jennifer Reinhart (Marty), and Fred Lopez (Jenn); the doting “GrandBob” to Sutton (Allison), Chance (Chelsea), Anna (Josh), Jenny (Cory), Amanda, Emily, Alex, Trey, Reygan, Collin (Michelle), Aaron, and Tanner; and great-grandmother to Katelyn, Madelyn, Olivia, Aiden, Michael, and Trinity. Ask anyone of us who is her favorite and the response will be a resounding “I AM”.
In addition, her extended family held a special place in her heart. She is survived by her step-daughter, Becky Toledo (Charlie) and step-son, Manual Lopez (Sylvia), along with their numerous children and grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Rey Lopez; life-long friend, Jess Hoskins; parents, Althea & James Wise; siblings, Helen, Jay, Linda, Fred, Dan and Judy. She is survived by her brother, Terry, and many nieces and nephews.
She will be dearly missed.
Out of concern for family and friends during this pandemic, the burial will be held privately on October 2, 2020. A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Alzheimers Association of America @ ALZFDN.org.
