Our precious Momma was called home on 04/13/2023 to join her loved ones that have gone on before her.
Sissy was the most precious gift from god with the biggest heart in the smallest package. While small in stature, she had the strongest will and biggest heart. Before a long hard-fought battle with COPD limited her abilities, she was the biggest lover of all things bingo and Yahtzee. Sissy would spend countless hours drinking coffee while playing Yahtzee and bingo with her friends. Many things brought her great joy but nothing more than her kids and grandkids whom she loved fiercely. Sissy considered everyone family and always took care of and watched out for everyone. She had a hand in raising half the neighborhood teens, her house was always full and everyone knew they were always welcome.
Sissy left her mark on the world for sure, she fought extremely hard down to the last second, but in the end it was time for her to go where she is out of pain and can breathe again. Our Momma will be missed beyond measure. She would always say bye-bye. It was never one bye. It was always 2. Bye-bye for now Momma, get your rest beautiful lady. You were always our inspiration and we will love you forever. Here’s to hoping you, Lois, and Barbara get endless bingo packs and play to your hearts content!
She was preceded in death by her Father, Leonard Helms Sr.; her Mother, Sandra Helms; and Brothers, Richard and Timothy Helms.
Sissy is survived by her daughters, Christy Church and Katie Helms; one son Raymond (Abby) Helms; 5 grandchildren, Blake Cundiff, Brayden Cundiff, Nathan Mattingly, Nolan Mattingly, and (little) Ray Helms; one brother, Leonard Helms Jr., as well as her most cherished dog, Baby.
Visitation will be held from 2-6 PM on Monday, April 17, 2023 at Arch L. Heady-Cralle Funeral Home, 2428 Frankfort Ave., followed by a service to celebrate her life at 6:00 PM on Monday at the funeral home.
