Barbara Jean Smith

Barbara was born in Malta, Montana, and raised by her late grandmother Celia Coleman. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 64 years Edward Smith.

A devoted mother, Barbara is survived by her three sons: John, (Sherry) Kenneth, (Rita) and Michael (Kim); her cherished grandsons: Matthew, Ryan, and Stephen; three step-grandchildren: Lance, Austin, and Loren; and five step-great-grandchildren: Adrian, London, Layla, Ruby, and Silas.

Barbara was a proud homemaker who poured her love and creativity into everything she did. She enjoyed many hobbies including pottery, ceramics, knitting, and cake decorating. A devout Christian, Barbara was a longtime member of West Broadway Baptist Church and dedicated her time volunteering at church and local nursing homes alongside her Christian sisters.

Her warmth, generosity, and unwavering faith touched the lives of all who knew her. She will be remembered for her quiet strength, gentle heart, and deep love for her family and friends.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 10, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM, with the funeral service immediately following at 3:00 PM at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Road, Louisville.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Arthritis Foundation or West Broadway Baptist Church in Barbara’s memory.
