She was born on January 1, 1936 in Shelbyville, KY to William Francis and Mary Elizabeth Allen. She worked as a rehabilitation specialist for mentally handicapped children and adults.
Betty is survived by her sister, Margaret A. DelSardo; children, Brenda (Butch) Gaddie, Ronald S. Slaughter, and Pam Baxter, grandchildren, Samantha L. Gaddie, Tracey L. (Keith Cooper) Gaddie, Ronald S. "Lit' Ron" Slaughter II, and Stephany K. (Larry Rizzo) Baxter; two great-grandchildren, Jessica K. Gaddie and Kayla M. Baxter. She is also survived by her aunts, Geneva Darnell and Christina Sacra, uncle Robert Ethington, nieces, Angela and Annette DelSardo and nephew, Tony (Donna) DelSardo and multiple cousins.
Visitation is Sunday, September 24, 2017 from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Road, Louisville.
A Celebration of Betty's life at 12 noon on Monday, September 25, 2017 at the funeral home.
Betty will be laid to rest at the Resthaven Memorial Park mausoleum.
