She was a graduate of Northeastern State College in Oklahoma, and she earned a master’s degree in education from Wayne State University in Michigan. She worked as an educator of the visually impaired for forty years before retiring from the Kentucky School for the Blind in Louisville.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Carrie and John Birmingham, and by her two grandchildren, Ben and Elizabeth, all of Calabasas, CA. She is preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Edison Wommack, originally of Marshall County, KY, and her brothers, Jay Duncan and Max Duncan.
Visitation and memorial will be held at the Arch L. Heady-Cralle Funeral Home in Louisville on Saturday, November 2, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM, with the memorial service at 2:00.
A graveside service will be held in Benton, KY at the Marshall County Memory Gardens on Sunday, November 3 at 3:00 PM.
