Billie Jane Cooksey, age 90, passed away on August 2, 2026. She was born on September 11, 1935, to James and Ella Ragland in Horse Branch, Kentucky. Billie loved going shopping and listening to country music. She enjoyed going to shows on Saturday nights with her grandson. When she was younger, she and her husband Marvin travelled all around the country following the University of Louisville basketball team. Most importantly, she cherished her relationship with God and spending time with her family. She will be missed.
Along with her parents, Billie is preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Cooksey.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Gina Eldridge and her husband Rondall, and Robin Cooksey; and her grandson, Jimmy O’Neil Eldridge.
A visitation for Billie will be held at Evergreen Funeral Home on Thursday August 6, 2026, from 4:00PM to 6:00PM. A funeral service will be held in the same location the following day, August 7, 2026, beginning at 12:00PM. She will be laid to rest alongside her husband at Evergreen Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions in Billie’s name be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
