Bonita C Frantz

Bonita was born in Louisville, KY, on May 25th, 1943, to the late Charles and Bessie Little. She graduated nursing school in 1984 where she was honored with a nursing degree. She was an LPN for most of her nursing career at Jefferson Regional Juvenile Detention Center until her retirement. She married her husband Harry Edward Frantz in Jan 1961 and were together for 52 years. The couple had three children, Kelly, Tony, and Jasen. Bonita was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who is remembered as compassionate and caring. Bonita and her late husband, Eddie loved to travel to New Smyrna Beach, Florida where they would stay at the local Islander. Eventually the couple moved to New Smyrna Beach full time after they both retired. In addition to her passion for the beach, Bonita loved going to Churchill Downs and playing bingo. Her family would always joke about how lucky she was at horse betting and winning bingo.

Bonita had many hobbies. She was a phenomenal seamstress. She made numerous quilts for all her children and grandchildren. She also loved collecting music boxes and gave her grandchildren a different music box each year for Christmas. In addition, she loved going antique shopping and had many varieties of collectables ranging from dolls, elephants, and sailors. She also enjoyed cheering on the Kentucky Wildcats.

She is survived by her son, Jasen (Laura) Frantz, her six grandchildren, Fallyn (Troy) Vandiver, Taylor Barefoot, Julie (Zachary) Craven, Paige, Loren, and Seth Frantz, and her three great grandchildren, Blaire Barefoot, and Benny and Charlie Craven. She is preceded in death by her husband, Harry Edward Frantz, daughter, Kelly Ann Wikins, and son Harry “Tony” William Frantz.

A visitation for Bonita will be held on Tuesday, March 4th, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM, followed by a funeral service with burial from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven & Resthaven Memorial Park, 4400 Bardstown Road, Louisville, KY 40218. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Seven Counties Services.
