Bruce was born in Pontiac, Michigan, December 24, 1941.
He joined the United States Army, having served from 1963 until 1965. He took his basic training at Fort Knox, Kentucky, where he met the love of his life, Laquita Green.
Bruce loved the Lord Jesus Christ and served him with a Clown Ministry at Farmdale Baptist Church with the name “Pickels”. He served as a greeter for many years at Valley View Church and was loved by everyone who knew him at Cornerstone Community Church, where he was a member. His goal was to put a smile on everyone’s face.
He was not shy about sharing his faith. When he was first saved at Yorktown Baptist Church, he knocked on doors reaching out to neighbors and strangers alike. He was still excited about the Lord until the end of his life and always looked for opportunities to share the miracles he experienced with God.
Bruce worked at International Harvester Company on the Cadet line until Harvester moved out of state. He retired from Modern Concrete as a forklift operator.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Dorothy and Percy Havens; daughter, Barbie Havens-Gonzales; brothers, Robert and Carl Havens; sisters, Clara Havens and Beverly Morris.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 55 years, Laquita Havens; daughters, Becky Taylor and Bonni Lincoln (Jeff); grandchildren, Benjamin Havens, Dr. Wade Taylor (Emily Kate), Brandon Gonzales, Jake Taylor, and Samantha Lincoln; great-grandchildren, Blake Havens, Caroline, Jake, and Henry Taylor.
