He was born October 20, 1949, in Louisville, the son of the late J.D. and Nell Elizabeth (Bryant) Bess. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one sister, Susan Elrod; and one niece, Cate Woods.
Buddy was a United States Army Veteran having served in Vietnam. He had also done a great deal of handyman work over the years.
Survivors include his two sisters, Jacqueline Woods and Stephanie Hix (Neal); a son, Tim Payne; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; eight nieces and nephews and his many close friends and acquaintances.
Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 PM on Thursday, November 7, 2024 in the Chapel of Arch L. Heady-Cralle Funeral Home, 2428 Frankfort Ave. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 2-8 PM on Wednesday, November 6, 2024 at the Arch L. Heady-Cralle Funeral Home.
