Burnis Darrell Ellis

Burnis D. “Ernie” Ellis 87, passed away on New Years Day. He was born July 28, 1923 in Springfield, TN, to the late, Orman Lee and Eluear Lee Allen Ellis. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was retired from L. G. & E. where he worked 40 years.

He was preceded by his parents, and his loving wife, Sarah Evelyn Ellis.

He is survived by his brothers; Owen Ray, and Donald Ellis, and his sister; Virginia Hedimeyer all of California. His loving grand-daughters who cared for him; Debbie Sue Satterfield and Georgia Hollenkamp (Darren), and his 3 great-grandsons; Oscar Holbrook Jr., Jonathan and Justin Thomas, and his best friend; Frank Wilson.

A visitation to celebrate Ernie’s life will be held from 2-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Arch L. Heady Russman & Sons Funeral Home, 1201 East Oak Street.
